Sharing Hope Ministry has many volunteer opportunities for women who are interested in prison ministry. If you live in the Amarillo area and are interested in additional information about becoming a volunteer, please contact us. Volunteer opportunities include:
Office Worker: Work in the Sharing Hope office one morning or afternoon a week. These volunteers answer letters from inmates and help package Bibles and study materials to be mailed. Volunteers are also needed to help answer phones, do data entry, and assist with fundraising.
Prayer Group: Pray for requests received from women in prison and acknowledge with a prayer card. Prayer Requests are prepared or emailed to our volunteers each week. All correspondance between volunteers and inmates are kept anonymous for safety purposes.
Visitation Team: Trained members of our visitation teams make weekly trips to the local jails for one-on-one visits and group Bible studies.
After-Care Runners: Volunteers will deliver a bag of basic hygiene items and a list of community resources to any recently released women to the Amarillo area that needs additional assistance. We prefer that runners work in teams of two so this is a perfect opportunity for a husband and wife team to minister.
Stepping Stones After-Care Program: Our Stepping Stones Partners are specially-trained women who offer one-on-one care to recently released women suffering personal crisis. Stepping Stones' Partners come from all walks of life, age ranges, and backgrounds. They are caring Christian friends who desire to walk beside the released woman when she is lonely, confused, or doubting. The Stepping Stones partner listens, offers referrals when needed, and prays.
Stepping Stones Partners are not professional psychologists, counselors, or therapists. They are care-givers who hope to help women seek out God as the "cure-giver". Once paired up, a Stepping Stones Partner agrees to meet with the woman once a week. Our goal is to partner with women who truly desire to make a change in their life but lack the social support to do so.
Any woman who would like more information about becoming a Stepping Stone volunteer, should contact the Sharing Hope office.
Any recently released women who would like to be paired with a Stepping Stones Partner should contact the office at 806-358-7803.
Become a Friend of Sharing Hope
Volunteering for a Christian ministry is rewarding. A Friend is someone who wants to volunteer but has time restraints that make it hard to volunteer on a weekly basis. A Friend is part of a network who receives an email requesting a need. If you can help, great! If you can't, no problem, simply delete the email, and maybe an opportunity to help will be sent another time that works with your schedule. There is no pressure. There are many opportunities for men and women as well as husband and wife teams.
Examples of Opportunities of Services

Financial Supporters
Every Bible or study sent to a hurting women has been purchased by a caring donor. You can place a Bible into a woman's hands and therefore give her the tools to change her life as easily as writing a check or allowing an automatic withdrawal each month from your account. As little as $15.00 a month will show one hurting woman a new way to live. Simply print the Contribution Record form, complete it, then mail the form and your donation.
Outside the Amarillo Area?
Sharing Hope Ministry partners with several church jail ministry teams outside of the Texas Panhandle. We can provide the Life Recovery Bible for the women that attend Bible studies groups which are led by area churches. We love hearing from the different ministries that utilitize our services.
"So they can live a life of freedom through a new relationship with Christ."
